Interactive Reading Event at urban farm
Interactive Reading Event with Author Mandy Monath at Stoney Acres NC Farm. – Join us for an enchanting afternoon at Stoney Acres NC farm as Mandy Monath, the award-winning author of "How Counting Came to Be," hosts an interactive reading event on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 3 to 6 PM. The event will take place at Stoney Acres NC farm, located at 620 Winter Breeze Court, Cary, NC 27513.
Reading and Cooking Demonstration
Come join children’s book author, Mandy Monath, and the staff of Wilson County Library to hear “How Counting Came to Be,” a funny story about how humans first learned to answer the question “How many?” Children will also learn how people have used gourds and related plants for thousands of years as tools and food. Free and open to the public!
Bath Fest Book Sale and Reading
Join Pamlico Writers and Alternative Stage actors for dramatic readings of PWG poetry, fiction, and scripts. I will have several pieces in the readings. PWG authors will also be selling their books. Hands-on activities for children.
Book signing and GOURDS for children
I will be signing my children’s book How Counting Came to Be and leading children in an activity about cavemen, gourds, and math. Come have some fun!
Open Mic
I’ll be joining Pamlico Writers’ Group for a Open Mic. I’m trying to memorize all of the poems in my collection This Is Like That: Poems and Process and will be reciting “Moon” and others.
Clayton Book Fair
I will be exhibiting at the Clayton Local Author Fair in Clayton, North Carolina. at 12:15 I will read my new children’s book, How Counting Came to Be.
Critique Session
I will be joining Pamlico Writers’ Group to critique poems and fiction submitted by group members. Hoping to get some opinions on a novel about Rome.
Poetry Workshop
I will lead a poetry workshop on “Object Poems” for the Creative Writing Club at Washington High School, Washington, NC
Read at Poetry in Plain Sight
I will read with other finalists in the NC Poetry Society Poetry in Plain Sight project. Durham North Regional Library.

I’ll be joining Pamlico Writers’ Group at Wine and Word Gourmet for a glass of wine and a great conversation about what we are reading. This month I’m reading Sue McIntyre’s The Last Time She Skipped and Betsy Hester’s 21 Boxes.

Come to South Main Book Company to celebrate How Counting Came to Be. Meet the author, Mandy Monath and the illustrator, Molly Liefert. Mandy will be signing books. Molly will demonstrate book illustration. And special guest “Mr. Robert Jones” will read from this funny book.

With its evocative precision in language, lyric poetry has always been Mandy's favorite medium. Her other writing has appeared in Christian Science Monitor and The Wall Street Journal. She splits her time between Raleigh and Washington, North Carolina.
Catherine W. Carter is the author of Larvae of the Nearest Stars, The Memory of Gills, and The Swamp Monster at Home. Her work has appeared in Best American Poetry, Orion, Ploughshares, Poetry, and elsewhere. She lives with her husband in Cullowhee, North Carolina, where she teaches at Western Carolina University.”
